About

One of El Paso’s oldest and most prominent family foundations, the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation is dedicated to supporting the Borderplex region that the Hunts are proud to call home, an area that encompasses El Paso County, Texas; South Central New Mexico; and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.

Since its establishment in 1987, the Foundation has made and committed over 89% of its giving locally to create a more globally competitive region and improve its economic prosperity. The foundation supports institutions working to transform education, improve healthcare, advance regional economic and cultural development, and create a greater quality of life for all who live in the Borderplex.

And we recognize that creating a globally competitive region doesn’t happen in isolation, that is why the foundation also invests in initiatives and organizations that improve access to education and to quality, affordable healthcare in the state of Texas and the nation as a whole.

Funded by shareholders of Hunt Companies, Inc. the Foundation advances the Hunt family’s overall vision of improving the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) climates in which they operate, a vision that has made the Hunt Companies an industry leader in corporate responsibility.

Mission

The mission of the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation is to support efforts that create economic prosperity and strengthen the competitiveness of the Borderplex region, while providing a better quality of life for its residents.

"The El Paso and border community has benefitted so much from the generosity and investments of Woody and Gayle Hunt, and their family foundation. As someone that has been an ambassador of the arts and culture as platforms for change, I know that the foundation's legacy of giving in these core areas, as well as education, will shape the next generation of El Pasoans and keep the rich traditions that make our region so unique alive for decades to come."

Letter from Woody L. Hunt,
Chairman of the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation:

Dear Borderplex Residents, Partners, and Friends:

Since establishing the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation in 1987, our family has prioritized the needs of our community and invested in the organizations and institutions that are improving the quality of life in the Borderplex region. After all, for us to create a globally competitive region, we need to ensure our students have the opportunity to pursue a college education, that our workforce is prepared to fill in-demand and high-paying jobs, and that we have a world class healthcare system that addresses the needs of our binational community and is at the forefront of medical innovation.

And we realize the need to create opportunities for our residents to enjoy our region's cultural and historic treasures, from the El Paso Museum of History to a vibrant zoo that honors our region's ecology and inspires a new generation of Borderplex residents.

The Foundation's philanthropic focus reflects the strong ties between our family and the El Paso region. As the co-founder and chairman of the Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation, I am a Ysleta High School graduate and third generation El Pasoan. My wife Gayle, the foundation's vice president, moved to El Paso with her family at a young age and graduated from Austin High School. Our children, including foundation president Josh Hunt, and grandchildren are also proud El Pasoans.

Our charitable giving focuses on the arts and local heritage, economic development, education, healthcare, quality of life initiatives and elevating the Borderplex region in state and national efforts -- the pillars that will help our region grow in prosperity and competitiveness.

The Woody and Gayle Hunt Family Foundation is proud to be part of this vibrant and resilient region, and we celebrate the great progress taking place in our communities.

El Paso is stronger together!
Sincerely,
Woody L. Hunt
